Teaching and Coaching Innovation newsletter
Welcome to another newsletter, our route to bringing the community of practice together by sharing news, resources, connections and details of online and live events. Hope you find it useful - and remember, at the heart of what we do is the spirit of open innovation. So please feel free to share anything from your side – comments, suggestions, offers of help or resources, etc.
In this issue you’ll find several sections – just click the links for more details.
Forthcoming webinars
Following up on our plans for a regular series of webinars we’ve got two in the pipeline (dates to follow shortly).
Tony Morgan will be sharing his thoughts and experience on ‘Diverging and converging for student engagement, diversity and inclusion’. (and he’s even posted this blog piece as a taster!)
And Katharina De Vita will share some of her experience in the very challenging world of AI and how we can harness its potential for enriching our teaching practices. She’ll also talk about the AI Risk Measure Scale (ARMS) that she developed at the University of Greenwich and how the university encourages the responsible use of generative AI in teaching, learning and assessment.
Spotlight on projects - GAMIFY
You may not know but ISPIM and its network members have been involved in many applied research programmes over the past ten years and continues to do so. Here you’ll find links to past projects and their deliverables – a rich set of resources like games, novel approaches to complement your TCI and tools to help design and deliver courses. Plus news of current projects which you can join in with.
This month we’re highlighting the GAMIFY project - another Knowledge Alliance exploring ways in which we can design and use games to help explore key innovation themes and work with them in different learning situations. The project combines the knowledge of four HEIs (HHL, HMKW, Complutense University of Madrid, Design School Kolding), the expertise of six industry partners (Deutsche Telekom, Danske Bank, 3M, Kamstrup, Lufthansa Systems, Generali Deutschland AG), the dissemination capacity of ISPIM and the quality assurance competence of ASIIN accreditation agency.
There’s a wealth of downloadable material including games and games design tools to help you embed these approaches in your own work. The book which emerged from the project is available here as an open access resource - so you’ve no excuse for not looking!
The Supermarket is (still) open
Well actually it never closed. This refers to the resource base we’ve been building and from which you’re welcome to fill your TCI trolley. You can access cases, activities, tools, games, video and audio and many other materials; it’s open to all and we’d be very pleased to put on the shelves anything you have to share…
Future Educators programme
Now in its third year this active community of practice enables focused experience sharing around key challenges and ‘hot topics’ in the TCI space and meets (online and live) every couple of months. Whether you’re just starting out along the TCI path or have many years of experience it’s designed to stimulate and support your journey. Our next session will be on 21st November and will explore the theme of ‘Sustainability’ and will feature resources and experience from the IMPACT project - invitations coming soon.
Interesting links
